Coffee Table Book

I love the coffee table book that was published as part of Northwestern’s 125th anniversary celebration, and I encourage friends and alumni of the University to obtain copies of this special publication that will be a keepsake of the anniversary year and a lasting tribute to our beloved school and its rich history and traditions.

Hundreds of graduates and others who have been touched by Northwestern over the years have purchased the 200-page book, and their response to the publication has been overwhelmingly positive.  Sales have not only covered the costs of producing the book but have also provided thousands of dollars for scholarships to assist NSU students.

Brenda and I purchased several books as gifts for members of our family who are Northwestern alumni.  They were captivated, as we were, by the hundreds of magnificent photographs that depicted the customs, heritage, rites and rituals of the University over twelve and a half decades.

The 30-page narrative in the book weaves anecdotes, historical information and profiles of faculty, staff, students and alumni into a fascinating tapestry of the unique history and traditions that set Northwestern apart from other schools across the state and nation.

In a style that is entertaining and informative, casual but poignant, the book rouses memories and reminders of classes, student activities, athletic events, campus sites and scenes, people, places and changing times that are carved indelibly into Northwestern’s colorful history.

The introduction to the coffee table book notes that the publication is “a tribute to the 75,000 alumni of Normal and Northwestern and teachers, coaches, administrators and friends” that have been a part of the school’s heritage.

Everyone who has ever been associated with the University should have a copy of this magnificent coffee table book that will be treasured for years to come and increase in importance as time goes by.  The coffee book is available online for free or the professionally published version can be purchased for $50 from the following e mail address:  whitec@nsula.edu.
